"Criticism, or more specifically, literary criticism, is the overall term for studies concerned with defining, classifying, analyzing, interpreting, and evaluating works of literature." Many different types or theories of literary criticism have evolved historically and most pieces of literature can be examined from more than one theoretical perspective.
