Sometimes you need a conversation in order to figure out what's working--and what isn't--in your compositions. The Writing Center's consultants meet with students to help you meet your compositional goals. Be sure to bring any assignment information with you to the appointment: the assignment sheet, due dates, notes, research, and any drafts or outlines. You may also want to prepare for your appointment by thinking through and jotting down any specific questions and concerns you have about the assignment.
Appointments in the Writing Center can help you write more easily and save you time. Think of time spent in the Writing Center as integral—not extra—time spent on your assignment. A small investment of time with us can save you hours of struggling by yourself.
Improve your presentation skills with help from our speech consultation experts. Practice and preparation can help you overcome—or at least minimize—anxious behaviors such as talking too fast and feeling nervous. It also helps build up your confidence. Consultants can help you present your best—and help you with your visual aids, outlines, and other necessary presentation components.
Both services offer help to all Purdue Fort Wayne and Indiana University Fort Wayne students for courses on this campus, including returning adults, students for whom English is a second language, and those of all skill levels.
We always encourage students to make appointments to meet with a consultant as there are thousands of students who use our service and only a handful of consultants. Making an appointment reserves your time to meet with someone! However, we are happy to see walk-ins and will gladly meet with you during unfilled appointment times.
