PLOS Agreement

Purdue University Libraries and School of Information Studies have entered into an Unlimited Publishing Agreement with the Public Library of Science, through a partnership between PLOS, the Center for Research Libraries, and NorthEast Research Libraries. This agreement provides authors at Purdue University-West Lafayette, Purdue Fort Wayne, and Purdue Northeast with unlimited publishing in all 12 PLOS journals without incurring fees, beginning April 1, 2022

In January, 2021, the Big Ten Academic Alliance (BTAA) and the Public Library of Science (PLOS) entered into an agreement for BTAA members to participate in PLOS’ Community Action Publishing (CAP) program, allowing BTAA researchers to publish in PLOS Biology and PLOS Medicine. The new Unlimited Publishing Agreement expands upon this previous package, providing unlimited, no-fee publishing for Purdue corresponding authors in 12 PLOS journals: PLOS BiologyPLOS ClimatePLOS Computational BiologyPLOS Digital HealthPLOS GeneticsPLOS Global Public HealthPLOS MedicinePLOS Neglected Tropical DiseasesPLOS ONEPLOS PathogensPLOS Sustainability and Transformation, and PLOS Water.

PLOS Agreement FAQs

Who can participate?
Any corresponding author or contributing author who is affiliated with Purdue University-West Lafayette, Purdue Fort Wayne, or Purdue Northwest is covered under this agreement.
 
What is my cost to participate?
There is no cost to corresponding authors who are affiliated with Purdue University. Likewise, there is no cost if the corresponding author of the manuscript is affiliated with another institution member of PLOS Community Action Publishing (CAP). If you are a contributing author and the corresponding author is not affiliated with an institutional member of PLOS CAP, the corresponding author will receive 25% discount on the APC.
 
Which journals are included?
This agreement covers articles published in 12 PLOS journals: PLOS BiologyPLOS ClimatePLOS Computational BiologyPLOS Digital HealthPLOS GeneticsPLOS Global Public HealthPLOS MedicinePLOS Neglected Tropical DiseasesPLOS ONEPLOS PathogensPLOS Sustainability and Transformation, and PLOS Water.
 
Is there a limit to how many articles can be published under this agreement?
No. This agreement includes articles for publication in PLOS journals that have been authored by Purdue University affiliated corresponding authors through the length of the agreement.
 
How do I participate?
You must properly self-identify during submission to be recognized as eligible. Use your Purdue or PFW email account upon submission of your manuscript. Funding approval for PLOS BiologyPLOS Medicine, and PLOS Sustainability and Transformation is automatic, as long as authors use their Purdue email account upon submission. Other journals may require an additional institutional identification step.
