Open Access at PFW

General Information

The Big Ten Academic Alliance (BTAA) and the Biochemical Society have entered into a Read & Publish agreement that supports the open sharing of research and knowledge from across the molecular biosciences.The agreement guarantees uncapped, fee-free open access (OA) publishing for corresponding authors at Purdue University, alongside full read access to all Biochemical Society journals.

This agreement is in effect from January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2026.

Who is eligible to participate?

Corresponding authors who are affiliated with Purdue University-West Lafayette, Purdue University Fort Wayne, Purdue University Northwest, and Purdue University Indianapolis are eligible for this program.

Who is considered a corresponding author?

Corresponding authors are defined as submitting corresponding authors on an article.

What article types are eligible for Open Access publication under this agreement? 

Peer-reviewed research articles are eligible.

What do I need to do to participate?

You must use your Purdue email address and list Purdue University as your institutional affiliation when you submit your work to Biochemical Society for publication.

What if I don't want to publish open access?

You can still publish your article, even if you do not wish to use this open access option. This agreement does not limit or dictate your decisions on where or how you wish to publish. This agreement provides an open access publishing option with Biochemical Society at no cost to you. You can opt-out of the agreement if you wish.
