Browsing Journals

Browsing Journals by Subject

There are two ways to browse journals owned by Helmke by subject.

  • BrowZine
  • E-Journals search tab

BrowZine has a more visual layout allowing you to "page" through a journal, however, it does not contain all the journals we subscribe to.  In order to find the complete list, you should use the E-journal search tab on our homepage. More on both options below.

E-Journal Search Tab

Use the link above to go directly to the E-Journal search, or you can find it as the third tab on the search box on our homepage.

E-journals tab on library homepage with Browse E-journals by subject link circled in red

Options to search by categoryor located on the left side of the page and expand out to more specifics as you click.

Journal search page with Earth & Environmental Sciences - Botany selected off the left hand navigation panel.

Under a title in the catalog you will see a coverage date list.  (See the image below, look for the arrow).  This will tell you what years we have access to electronically. In some cases we have multiple options to access a journal with various dates. If you click on the title (star in the image below) it will open a list of all the available full-text options.

If you see an option to "View Journal Contents" for a title, that means it is available in the BrowZine interface if you would prefer. Simply click the link.  (circled in the image)

Catalog record for the journal Medicine. title has a red star next to it. Journal coverage from 2013-present is marked with a red arrow. View Journal Contents link is circled in red.

BrowZine

The link above will take you to the BrowZine website.  The navigation by subject is on the left.

When using BrowZine please keep in mind the following:

  • This is not a complete list of journals you have access to but only a selection.
  • This link may not be stable off campus - please be sure the upper left corner says Purdue FORT WAYNE. If it reverts to Purdue at West Lafyette most of the links will not work.
  • BrowZine was designed as an app for mobile devices. There is a link in the upper right of the webpage where you can download the app.  It is sometimes spotty on if it will recognize the campus subscription when you do.

When BrowZine has the journals you need and you do not experience access issues it is a lovely service.  However, it is not the only option and is still somewhat spotty in coverage.  If you do not see what you need, or experience any problems, please try using the E-Journal tab.
