Guided by our values, the Purdue University Fort Wayne Library is an educational partner, providing physical and virtual resources and services to facilitate student learning and faculty research and instruction. We embrace a culture of connection, empowerment, and sustainability. We anticipate needs; engage in knowledge generation, access, and preservation; and provide an environment for inquiry, exploration, and collaboration.

Purdue University Fort Wayne Library is a catalyst for research, knowledge discovery, and student success and transformation. We empower students, faculty, and staff by providing equitable access to knowledge and expertise, creating diverse and inclusive learning environments, and sustaining and supporting the Purdue University Fort Wayne experience.

The library was named in 1977 for Walter E. Helmke, prominent Fort Wayne attorney and active member of the I.U. Board of Trustees and the Indiana-Purdue Foundation.
