View this fossil as a 3d object
This fossil is late Ordovician in age (~450 million years old). It was collected in a chunk of limestone from Point Leavell, Kentucky, and was silicified (replaced with silica). Weak hydrochloric acid was used to remove it, then it was coated with a hardener before scanning. Scanning made it possible to study without breaking.
