On Thursday, March 7, from 7:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m., campus IT staff will perform maintenance that may impact access to library resources and Document Delivery.
This fossil is late Ordovician in age (~450 million years old). It was collected in a chunk of limestone from Point Leavell, Kentucky, and was silicified (replaced with silica). Weak hydrochloric acid was used to remove it, then it was coated with a hardener before scanning. Scanning made it possible to study without breaking.
