Library Search interface

Use Library Search to find books, periodicals (scholarly journals, popular magazines, newspapers, and other serials), or  other library materials such as music CDs, electronic resources, and videos. Books, printed periodicals, and other library materials are shelved in call number order.

When you do not find enough information via the library catalog, try using the WorldCat catalog. WorldCat is a worldwide library catalog containing records from most academic and larger public libraries worldwide. You can use the "Request Item through Document Delivery" button to order materials that are not available at the Purdue Fort Wayne library.

Keyword Search Examples

Search Anything or Any Field (in the Advanced Search) will search for your keyword(s) anywhere in a record. This is the default search for the catalog.

Example: elementary education and research

In Advanced Search:

Author/creator will search for first or last names in any order in the author fields of a record. Included are personal names, organizations, agencies, corporations, conferences, etc.

Example: arthur wadell

Title will search for important words in the title. Do not use initial articles: a, the, la, das, etc.

Example: (collaborative or group or team) and learning
Example: encyclopedia of language and education (stop words are ignored)

Subject will search for important words in the official Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH).

Example: mathematics and study and teaching
Example: education and (encyclop$ or dictionar$)
