Purdue University Fort Wayne Learning Commons Equipment Loan Policies and Procedures

1. Overview

The Purdue University Fort Wayne Learning Commons (LC) has selected equipment (see below) available for use by Purdue University Fort Wayne students, faculty and staff.  There are no charges for the use of the equipment; however, fines and fees may apply if the equipment is lost, stolen, damaged or returned late.  This equipment is made available for use with Purdue University Fort Wayne related activities.  LC easels may be used outside the Library but only on the Purdue University Fort Wayne campus; other equipment may only be used in the Library. Borrowers are responsible for the set-up and use of the equipment.  Limited technical support will be available from LC staff.  LC equipment requested for activities approved and scheduled to occur in the LC will take precedence. 

2. Eligibility

Only currently enrolled Purdue University Fort Wayne students and current faculty and staff may check out equipment.

3. Availability

Equipment is available on a first-come-first-served basis. Activities approved and scheduled to occur in the LC will take precedence. 

4. Available Equipment

Easels Da-Lite 6' easel.
Media Cart Includes:
Dell XPS 12 Ultrabook computer with standard IPFW applications.
Benq DLP, WXGA 3500 lumens data projector.
Projection Screen Da-Lite manual pull down screen and heavy duty easel.
Size - 120" X 160," 4:3
Portable Lectern Seville Lectern with sound and wireless microphone.

5. Check Out

Borrower must present his or hers valid Purdue University Fort Wayne Mastodon Card when checking out LC equipment.
LC equipment can be borrowed for 1 day.
The borrower is responsible for the equipment and is liable for loss or damage unless damage occurs during a building emergency such as a fire.
Defective equipment should be reported immediately and returned to the Learning Commons Desk.

6. Returns

Equipment is to be returned on time, to the LC Desk and checked in by a LC staff member.
LC staff will assess the equipment for any damage.
Fines and fees will apply if equipment is lost, stolen, damaged or returned late.

7. Fines and Fees

Late fees are $20 per day, $140 maximum.
After 1 week, borrower will be billed the total replacement cost of all equipment borrowed.
Fees include a non-refundable $25 service charge in addition to late fees and replacement costs.
The maximum fine is $165 (maximum late fees plus service charge) plus replacement costs of all equipment borrowed.

9. Misuse of Equipment

Equipment on loan from the Purdue University Fort Wayne LC is expected to be used according to manufacturer's recommendations. Misuse or deliberate destruction of equipment should be reported to the LC Desk.
